E-Max compared with zirconia

E-Max is a lithium disilicate glass ceramic. A 3-year controlled clinical trial published in Clinical and Experimental Dental Research in 2023 compared 60 veneers made of high-translucency (cubic) zirconia and E-Max. It found no significant differences between the two groups across the aesthetic, functional and biological measures, while the E-Max group showed better results for aesthetics and translucency and a slight increase in sensitivity. The study was small and followed patients for 3 years.
